Safeguarding Statement

Holy Trinity CE (A) Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. 

This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place which we refer to in our prospectus.  Parents and carers are welcome to read the safeguarding policies on request or on our website below.  

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.  The procedures that we follow have been laid down by the Local Safeguarding Children's Board of West Sussex.

Safeguarding practices and procedures to safeguard all children in our school include:

· Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks are undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.

· Every appointed candidate to Holy Trinity CE (A) Primary School is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

· The school undertakes regular audits of its practice, through internally reviewing the NSPCC toolkit and an external audit conducted by WSCC

· The Head teacher reports on Safeguarding on a termly basis to the Governing Body

· Our Safeguarding governor undertakes their own independent inspection of our Single Central Record, speaks to DSLs, staff and children about aspects of Safeguarding at Holy Trinity CE (A) Primary

· Safeguarding training is given to all staff annually, including any KCSIE updates; additional courses are attended by staff

Prevent Duty at Holy Trinity School

We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils. As a school we recognise that safeguarding against radicalisation is no different from safeguarding against any other vulnerability.

All staff are expected to uphold and promote the fundamental principles of British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

On 1 July 2015 the Prevent duty (section 26) of The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 came into force. This duty places the responsibility on local authorities to have due regard for the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding and child protection we fully support the government's Prevent Strategy.
