About the Governing Body

Holy Trinity CE Primary School is part of the Hurst Education Trust (HET) a Multi-Academy Trust set up by Hurstpierpoint College in collaboration with the Diocese of Chichester.

Governors are people who wish to make a positive contribution to the school and the education of its children and the Local Governing Body’s overriding responsibility is to work in partnership with the Headteacher to promote continuous improvement in the school’s performance.  The LGB acts as a critical friend, supporting and challenging the performance of both the Headteacher and the school.

Holy Trinity CE Primary School has a long and successful history of serving its community.  As a Church of England School, we establish and promote our distinctive Christian vision to enable pupils and adults to flourish.  Governors, staff, parents and pupils all work hard together to ensure that our school lives up to its Christian ethos ‘Learning together with God’s love’.

Our Local Governing Body

Holy Trinity CE Primary School has a Local Governing Body of 14 members, consisting of a mix of:

  • The Headteacher
  • The Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, Cuckfield
  • 2 Parent members– elected by the parents and carers of pupils at the school
  • 1 Staff member– elected by the staff
  • 3 Co-opted members - from the community recommended by the LGB based on their skills and experience

·         6 Co-Opted Foundation members - appointed by the HET Board based on recommendations from the Local Governing Body.  As a Church School the Local Governing Body tries to ensure that there are sufficient governors with links to our church worshipping community or with a Christian focus, to ensure our Church school ethos and Christian distinctiveness of the school is reflected in all aspects of school life.  Otherwise, they share the same duties and responsibilities as the other members of the Local Governing Body.

The members are appointed by the Hurst Education Trust Trustees.

Upon appointment to the governing body, a member will normally serve a 4-year term of office. After this period, the member can choose to stand for re-election or re-appointment.  The Headteacher and Vicar of Holy Trinity Church are not bound by a term of office and therefore are appointed until such time that they chose to resign.

There may also be invited members appointed by the governing body for their specific skills as and when needed.

Keeping in Touch

The Governors naturally work best when they are closely in touch with the priorities of the children, parents and teachers. If there is an issue you would like to raise, please feel free to contact any of the Governors.  The Chair of Governors is Mrs Rebecca Anderson.

The Governing Body welcomes any comments or suggestions. You can catch many of us at the beginning or end of the school day when we are with our children, Otherwise, leave a note for us at the school office or email us at the following address:
